It feels like forever since I last have written something here and I have missed it, life has come in the way and between changing jobs and other stuff I just didn’t have the time or energy. So, for today’s post, I’m going to do a mini-review of my most recent reads.
Beastly Bones by William Ritter
This is the second book in the Jackaby series and it was fantastic. I read Jackaby last year and I liked it though I found it a little predictable. In this case, I didn’t see coming who was behind it all and I found the characters even more lovable than in the first one. I was very happy to see Officer Baker back in this installment I loved him in the first one. I like even more Jackaby and Abigail in this one and their interactions were just on point, they made me laugh a lot.
The book was fun, intriguing and overall fantastic so I highly recommend it. I can’t wait to have the third one as is going to focus more on Jenny a character that has intrigued me since the beginning.
‘ The greatest figures in history are never the ones who avoid failure, but those who march chin-up through countless failures, one after the next, until they come upon the occasional victory (…). Failure is not the opposite of success- it’s part of it.’
The Hazel Wood
I know that there is hype around this book and the premise of it was what it intrigued me but for me, it was tedious to read and I wasn’t a fan of the writing style. For me, the writing style was too complex and was making it difficult to follow. I was skimming the last part of the book just to see what happened.
In addition, I didn’t like the main character at all, she was annoying and selfish and I didn’t really care what happened to her.
Have you read any of these? What did you think?
