Today I’m coming to you with my review of what has become one of my top ten favorites series: Stalking Jack the Reaper and it’s sequel Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco.
These beauties were my lasts reads of 2017 and Oh my god they were fantastic! I have seen these books around for a while now and decided to start reading them, and I wasn’t disappointed. This was the perfect mix of romance, mystery, and horror with a great set of main characters.
There is a serial killer in the loose in the streets of London, women are being murdered and some of their organs are missing. Police seek the help of Audrey Rose uncle’s, the medical examiner. But Audrey Rose cannot stay on the side and she starts investigating, gathering the help of Thomas Cresswell in the way. Could they find the killer before he or she strikes again?
Fantastic duo of characters
Audrey Rose and Thomas Creswell are a fantastic couple to follow around. They are the perfect complement to each other, both reckless, brave, strong and they don’t mind the social rules. And I loved how they tease each other, and flirt. They seemed very real and I just wanted more.
One of my favorite things is how Audrey Rose bypassed social rules by doing what she likes even if that is studying forensic science. She is so smart and has an answer for everyone.
The amazing chemistry among these characters is only enhanced in the second book which takes place in Transilvania.
Addictive, intriguing and action-packed plot
I read both books in 4 days so you can imagine how addicted and hooked I was to the story. I was pretty sure of who the person responsible in the first book was, and though I ended up being right, it didn’t lessen the shocked and my eagerness to jump to the second one which I did just after finishing it.
I think I prefer the plot of Hunting prince Dracula because I have always been intrigued by this story, and it mixed perfectly the folklore of the country with the science of the time. Love how it develops and as I wanted more of the characters and their interactions this just made it better.
I am just amazed that Stalking Jack the Reaper is the debut novel of the author it was seriously impressive. Can’t wait to read the third book. If you haven’t read this I highly recommend it.
