Title: Reunion in Death

Publication date: March 2002
Reunion in death is another delivery in the famous and successful book series In Death. In this occasion, they will be solving two different murders not related among one and other. It is the re-opening of a cold case and a series of murders by poisoning of highly rich business men, with no appeared relation between them.
The murder investigation leads Eve to delve in her roots and in her deepest and non commented past. In previous books, the author mentioned how Eve suffered abuses when she was a child, and how that traumatic experience has marked her and changed her, forming the woman she has become now. It is the moment in which she has to go deep in her memories so she can leave them behind. And, as there is no other way, by her side will be her billionaire and handsome as hell husband. This is the most intense and emotive part of the story, it makes you feel like if you were in that motel room with them going through those darkest memories.
One of the things that I enjoy the most from the series is the high content in psychology. It is not only about the investigation of a murder, it also adds the development of the lives of the characters that progress with each book. In book, the characters that evolves the most are Eve (that high emotive moment in which she faces her past) and Peabody, who is put as primary detective to solve the cold case. I think that is one of the things that make the books good. After reading several books of the same characters you are eager to know how their lives will evolve, and this is something that J.D Robb achieves.
Another thing that makes the books good is Eve. The strong and intelligent woman that seems to know how the murders went down when she attends a murder scene. She takes you step by step on how she thinks the murder occur with only the evidence that you, the reader, are able to know. Add to this, the police procedure followed. As we are in a futuristic world, where there is no only Earth by other planets, you may think that the police procedure is different but not the case. I like the fact that the reader is able to participate in all the process: the recovery of the proofs, the scene, the witness interviews…
In all a good book that I recommend to detective book lovers.
